Global Meeting in Kathmandu Nepal
ANAFAE participated in Global Meeting on Privatization in Education and Human Rights and Regional Consultation on Education Privatization from 7th to 13 Sep, 2017 in Kathmandu Nepal.
The meeting in Kathmandu organized globally and participants from more than 32 countries including the representatives of founder’s organization have attended this meeting. The main purpose of Global Meeting on Privatization in Education and Human Rights was to present and discuss the first draft of the Human Rights Guiding Principle on the obligations of States with regards to the delivery of education by public and private schools.
The meeting will continue to finalize the Human Rights Guiding Principle on July 2018. The final draft of the meeting will be sent to all participated countries and coalitions.
The Regional Consultation on Education Privatization meeting aimed to review and provide feedbacks on the latest draft on the human rights guiding principles on the role of private actors in education, to share and reflect on privatization trends and challenges in regulation of private actors in education in the region and beyond. In addition, this meeting identifies priority privatization issues and map global /regional events in 2017/18. Furthermore, this meeting aims to agree joint strategy and develop national and regional action plans to address the key challenges identified and internally review and assess progress in financing and privatization work of coalitions in relation to OSF/CSEF project commitments and agree on plan ahead.
As a result of the meeting, the latest draft of the human rights guiding principles on the role of private actors in education have been reviewed and some important feedbacks have been provided.
The coalitions shared and reflected on privatization trends and challenges in regulation of private actors in education in the region and beyond. In addition, they identified priority privatization issues and map global /regional events in 2017/18; agree joint strategy and develop national and regional action plans to address the key challenges which have been identified.
